Fire Fighting Drain Details

The main drain valve assembly is normally located at the system riser. Its purpose is twofold. First,it is used as a central point to drain water from the entire system. As such, where practicable, all system piping should be arranged to drain to the main drain valve. Its second purpose is to serve as a tool to measure incoming water flow. This is commonly referred to as the
“main drain test.”

INSTALLATION METHOD OF WATER SUPPLY PUMP

INSTALLATION METHOD OF WATER SUPPLY PUMP
  • Ensured that the proper clearance is available from civil side before commencement of works.
  • Ensured that the work area is clean and safe for carrying out the activities.
  • Prior to start of works, it shall be ensured that the relevant shop drawings and coordination drawings are approved and issued for construction.
  • It shall be ensured that all electrical requirements such as cable trays, cable Trunking, entry side lugs, glands etc. are finalized and coordinated.
  • It shall be ensured that the material issued is as per the approved material submittal.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR WATER BOOSTER PUMPS
The following procedure shall be followed for the installation of Water Supply & Water Booster Pumps:
  • Visually inspect the exterior casing of the Water Supply Pumps for any damages during transporting and transferring of the units.
  • Ensure that the installation of the Water Supply Pump is carried out in accordance with manufacturer’s installation recommendations and specification.
  • Prior to start of installation, refer to the approved shop drawing related to the area of installation and ensure that required material is available at site as per approved material submittals.
  • Ensure that the equipment and accessories are stored properly and there is no damage or deformity of any kind during transportation of material from site store to the working area.
  • After inspecting the work area, ensure that it is totally ready for installation. Then the required equipment shall be moved to the place of installation.
  • Check the equipment weight to ensure that the rigging equipment can handle that safely.
  • Before installing the Water Supply Pump check whether proper space is available for servicing or not. If there are any services installed previously in ceiling in the same area shall be shifted to the side of the Water Supply Pump for easy future maintenance.
  • The foundation of the Pumps shall be checked for dimensions, location, orientation and the level as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • First the location of the vibration isolators shall be marked on the ground base.
  • Water Supply Pumps shall be installed and positioned as shown on the approved shop drawings and level the pumps by using spirit level.
  • After leveling the pumps tighten the base bolts of the pumps.
  • Proper space for valves and piping for future maintenance shall be ensured before installing the pumps.
  • It shall be ensured that the pumps & motors are properly installed with no pipe strain transmitted to the pump casing.
  • After completion of installing the pumps the same shall be offered for inspection.
  • Installation of water supply piping, valves and insulation of piping shall be done as per approved method statement and as per approved shop drawings.
  • While installation cable tray & trunking, it shall be ensured that the roughting does not hinder the acess of various parts of the pumps.
  • Electrical power and control wiring and earthing shall be carried out as detailed on respective approved electrical shop drawings and as per the recommendations of manufacturer.
  • Valves tags and identification sign shall be provided as per requirements.

Acoustic Line Duct

Acoustical duct line

duct lining

A fiberglass blanket material used as a lining inside a sheet-metal duct of an air-conditioning system; reduces noise which is transmitted along the duct and provides thermal insulation.

Stair Pressurization Fan

Stair Pressurization Fan

In case of fire in a high rise building, an SPF uses clean outside air to pressurize the air in stairwells. The pressurized air helps people escape the fire and firefighters battle the fire.

Stairways are Fire Escape Routes

Nowadays, stairwells have better fire ratings than the rest of the building. In other words, so people can get out when the rest of the building is on fire, stairways don't burn.

Stairways Full of Smoke

The stairways may not burn, but they can still fill up with smoke. The smoke can not only make it harder to see as one is getting away from a fire, but it can:
  • Make it harder to breathe - possibly causing injury or death
  • Close off the escape route - possibly causing people to seek another pathway of escape

Open Doors

The problem is, as people are escaping the fire, they have to open the door to the stairway. When the door is open, preventing the stairway from being used by later escapees, smoke follows and billows into the stairway.

Smoke Push Back

The idea behind the stair pressurization is that during a fire the stairway should have more pressure than the rest of the building. That way, when the doors open, the higher pressure in the stairwell pushes the smoke back onto the floor, keeping the escape route clear of smoke.

The smoke free escape route also doubles as a smoke free entrance route for the firefighters as they combat the fire

Roof Mounted exhaust fan intallation Details

exhaust fan - a fan that moves air out of an enclosure.

Air intake and exhaust vents are used in ventilating steep-slope roof assemblies to provide a means of allowing outside air to enter and exit attics and ventilation spaces.

Intake Vents: Air intake vents are used to allow outside air to enter into attics and ventilation spaces. Intake vents should be located along a roof assembly's lowest eave at or near soffits or eaves.

OS&Y gate valve function

One type of valve commonly used to control water flow to fire sprinkler systems is known as an OS&Y gate valve. OS&Y means “outside stem and yoke” or "outside screw and yoke". OS&Y gate valves operate by opening and closing via a gate, which lowers into or rises out of the valve.
